Things an EFL teacher should NEVER do!
Here are some things an English as a Foreign Language teacher should NEVER do:
- Never speak too fast or use complex vocabulary that is beyond your students' comprehension.
- Never belittle or embarrass students for making mistakes.
- Never rely solely on textbooks or lectures without incorporating interactive activities.
- Never ignore individual students' needs or differences in learning styles.
- Never make assumptions about your students' prior knowledge or background.
- Never use offensive or inappropriate language or topics in the classroom.
- Never neglect to plan your lessons in advance or arrive unprepared.
- Never favor or discriminate against certain students based on their abilities or backgrounds.
- Never discourage students from using their native language when necessary.
- Never ignore feedback or questions from your students.
- Never skip providing clear instructions or explanations for tasks or activities.
- Never focus solely on grammar and neglect other important language skills.
- Never rush through lessons or fail to allocate sufficient time for practice and review.
- Never underestimate the importance of building rapport and creating a supportive classroom environment.
- Never neglect to provide constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
- Never avoid incorporating authentic materials or real-life contexts in your lessons.
- Never neglect to assess your students' progress and adapt your teaching accordingly.
- Never force students to speak or participate if they are uncomfortable doing so.
- Never neglect to address and correct misconceptions or errors that arise during class.
